The Eastern Sequence and Informatics Hub (EASIH) has ceased trading on the 5th March 2013 as an independent business unit of the University and has stopped to accept requests for new projects in January 2013. EASIH has liaised on the 4th March by email with users about currently outstanding projects.
New structure for Next Generation Sequencing services Changes have been made to the Next Generation Sequencing services for researchers associated with the Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and for projects of the NIHR BioResource. The changes were prompted by the Medical Research Council’s decision to cease its funding for EASIH, the Cambridge BRC genomic strategy for 2012-2017 and the NIHR BioResource initiative for sequencing of thousands of cases with Rare Diseases.
Research sequencing for BRC-associated researchers For the provision of sequencing services researchers should contact Mr James Hadfield at the Genomics Core facility at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute on the Addenbrooke’s biomedical campus. The Institute has Illumina MiSeq and HiSeq capacity. With the closure of EASIH services the Illumina GAII and Life Technologies Ion Torrent platforms have been discontinued.
